Senior citizens use lifetime of experience to make daily difference in community

When considering retirement, one often views it through a lens of relaxation and taking a final break from work. Fortunately for the citizens of Burlington County, each year countless seniors vow to take a different approach.

It all started with a high school senior paper assignment. When Anthony Caruso III was asked to write about his dream career, sports journalist was the obvious choice. A lifelong sports fan and avid writer, Caruso III knew he wanted to combine his two passions into one fulfilling career.

Julianna Rankel has been competing in pageants for a few years, this is her first year with the Miss America Organization (MAO). She will be competing for the title of Miss New Jersey on June 15, with the title of Miss Columbus Day promoting her social impact initiative, R.E.A.C.H. Out, which strives to promote education and advocacy for children’s mental health.

Khaliyah Leach was always determined to go to college.

“I always knew I wanted to go to college,” Khaliyah said. “I wanted to make money and be my own boss.”

She explored some out-of-state universities before deciding that Rowan College at Burlington County was the right choice for her.
