Alison Wissen suffered from two conditions during pregnancy
that required a significant amount of blood during delivery,
helping save her life.

Alison Wissen is a mother of three beautiful children. During the birth of her daughter Gwendolyn,
Alison suffered from both placenta previa and placenta percreta. These complications resulted in the placenta not
being able to detach during delivery. She was at risk for catastrophic hemorrhaging and death.

During the delivery of her daughter, Alison lost one and a half times her total blood volume. She spent seven hours in surgery to repair the damage.

“I would not be alive if it weren’t for blood donors. Even the skilled hands of my surgeons would not have been able
to save my life without blood donations,” said Alison. “I will be forever grateful to those who donate blood so my three children have their mother.”
