NextGen USA to Develop Premier Soccer Leadership Academy at RCBC's Pemberton Campus

NextGen Leadership Academy

Rowan College at Burlington County announced a new partnership with NextGen USA that will lead to a world-class soccer leadership academy at the college’s original Pemberton campus.

“NextGen USA will breathe new life into the Pemberton campus that will benefit the local communities and give Rowan College at Burlington County a terrific new partner,” RCBC President Paul Drayton said. “This partnership goes beyond soccer fields, and we will score in our goal of improving educational success and leadership abilities of athletes – especially those coming from underserved communities.”

RCBC is partnering with NextGen USA to use the college’s Pemberton campus as a regional hub for sports-based educational programming that will instill leadership qualities in young soccer players and prepare them for future success in soccer, in their studies and in their communities.

“We are delighted to be forming such an exciting educational partnership with Rowan College at Burlington County, which will provide a life shaping learning environment for our players as well as a magnificent home for both our local and regional programming,” said NextGen’s Director of Youth Development Tony Williams. “The NextGen Leadership Academy at RCBC will inspire, educate and empower its students to strive for excellence both on and off the field to become high-achieving leaders in life.”

The NextGen Leadership Academy will provide a unique student athlete experience through an innovative delivery of academics, soccer and leadership development for boys and girls from fifth to 12th grade. NextGen USA is now accepting applications for its programming at RCBC’s Pemberton campus. To learn more, attend a NextGen USA open house from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 19, at the library of RCBC’s Pemberton campus, visit www.nextgenusa.org or contact Sam Gough, NextGen’s Director of Education at sam@nextgenusa.org.

With more than 2,000 players from over 200 clubs along the east coast from Connecticut to Virginia, the partnership will expose more potential students to the benefits of Rowan College at Burlington County – most notably its premier partnership with Rowan University that has created a path to a bachelor’s degree for as little as $25,000.

“There will be great synergy between our athletes and NextGen USA,” President Drayton said. “The Rowan College at Burlington County Barons will serve as character coaches and have the opportunity for internships, while NextGen USA players will get a glimpse of their future at RCBC.”

The announcement comes months after RCBC announced it was transitioning from Pemberton to Mount Laurel to better serve students. Mount Laurel is transforming into the ultimate campus experience with a new Student Success Center being built as the gateway from the Route 38 entrance.
