Lady Baron Soccer Player Amber Steen Receives a Woman of the Year Award

Rowan College at Burlington County Lady Baron Amber Steen earned distinction as a “Woman of the Year” by the N.J. Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women at the 24th annual N.J. National Girls and Women in Sports Day awards luncheon held Feb. 7 at Seton Hall University.
“Women of the Year” awards are based upon athletic excellence, academic success and community service.
Steen, of New Egypt, is a two-year starter and goalkeeper on the Rowan College at Burlington County women’s soccer team. During her tenure at RCBC, the Barons accumulated a 21-11 record, going 9-6 overall and 5-0 in the Region in her sophomore season. In 2014 and 2015, the Barons won the Garden State Athletic Conference, and in 2014 were Region XIX Division I Women’s Soccer Runner-Ups. 
The 30th anniversary of National Girls and Women in Sport Day was officially recognized on February 3. The day celebrates the athletic achievements of women and the positive well-being associated with sports participation while also recognizing the continuing struggle for equality for women in sports.
