Information for High School Students and High School Graduates

Eligible High School Students:

Junior Year Eligible Students

Students may be junior year eligible if ranking in the top 15% at the end of their junior year. The Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA) sends letters to high school students eligible based on junior year ranking. The RCBC NJ STARS Department also sends junior year eligible prospective students information on the NJ STARS Checklist.

Once notified of eligibility, students should follow the NJ STARS Checklist to make sure all eligibility requirements are met. All incoming students should meet with the NJ STARS Coordinator prior to their first term.

Senior Year Eligible Students

If students were not eligible during junior year, they may still take advantage of NJ STARS if ranking in the top 15% of their senior year. All senior year eligible students should be notified by their high school before graduation.

To prove senior year eligibility to RCBC, students must present an official (stamped and sealed) final high school transcript post-graduation with ranking clearly listed. If the transcript does not show class ranking, then RCBC may review official additional documents presenting this from the high school counselor. Once proving eligibility, students should follow the NJ STARS Checklist to make sure all eligibility requirements are met. All incoming students should meet with the NJ STARS Coordinator prior to their first term.

Transfer or Other Students Not Starting RCBC Immediately Following High School:

Students who already graduated high school and are within five terms (including fall and spring) from high school graduation are potentially eligible for the NJ STARS Program.  They should reach out to the NJ STARS Coordinator to verify this. If eligible, they can start to follow the NJ STARS Checklist.

Students should note that there is processing time behind Financial Aid review and verification procedures. If the NJ STARS Checklist is not completed within one month prior to courses starting, there is no guarantee NJ STARS Aid will be awarded by the time courses begin.
