Alumna Brandy Marks lands an internship with Burlington Stores

Brandy MarksThis summer, Brandy Marks will start living her dreams as she begins her summer internship with Burlington Stores within the buying and merchandising departments.

Four years ago, Brandy set out on a path to pursue her lifelong dream of working in the fashion industry. She chose Rowan College at Burlington County to begin her education and it is here that she decided to pursue her path in fashion merchandising. After receiving her associate degree from RCBC, Brandy transferred to Jefferson/PhilaU to complete a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising.

While she was studying abroad in Rome, she received the exciting news that she was accepted into the Summer 2018 Internship Program at Burlington Stores. This prestigious opportunity is only for students entering their senior year.

The window to this opportunity opened at RCBC. While working toward her associate degree, she was selected to attend a one-day merchandising workshop at Burlington Stores.

“I knew right then this was a company I would love to work for, but it would be such a long time before I would have the opportunity to apply for the internship,” said Brandy. “The time goes by so fast and I am so thankful to have this opportunity to go to work every day and be a part of this amazing team.”

The Fashion Department is so proud of Brandy for getting her start at RCBC and we can’t wait to have her come back to visit in September and hear all about her internship adventures. We also want to thank Brandy for volunteering to model in the annual Fashion Show for the last four years.

Brandy will be graduating from Jefferson University in May 2019.

Congratulations to Christiana Sallard

Christiana SallardChristian Sallard graduated from RCBC three years ago with a degree in fashion and transferred to Philadelphia University to continue her passion in fashion design.

The Fashion Department at RCBC would like to congratulate Christiana on her graduation from PhilaU, and send extra congratulations for landing a full-time job as an Assistant Fashion Designer at Catherines, a plus size retailer group under the Ascena Retail Group.

In her new role, she will be assisting in the design of woven tops and jackets. Her responsibilities will be to collaborate with CAD artists, merchandisers and technical designing teams to develop multi-seasonal lines from concept stage to production stage. Christiana will work on tech packages for overseas development, garment sketches, sourcing and preparing merchandising presentations.

Prior to this position, Christiana held two internships at Lily Pulitzer and Catherines. Christiana will be relocating with the company this fall. We will miss her visits to the RCBC Fashion Department to volunteer her time to speak to the fashion design students about what to expect when transferring after RCBC and her experience interning. We look forward to hearing about Christiana’s many successes in the future!
