For many students, the terms “college” and “financial aid” go hand-in-hand. And for some, these terms provide a necessary means to achieving an otherwise insurmountable goal -- earning a degree.

If you’d like to learn more about:

  • The types of financial aid available to you,

  • How to apply for financial aid,

  • The benefits of applying your financial aid at a community college

  • And more…

Tune in to Rowan College at Burlington County’s Facebook Town Hall at 6 pm, on Wednesday, Jan. 13. Hear from Sharon Austin of the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), RCBC Alumni Trustee Stephanie Berdugo-Hernandez and RCBC Director of Financial Aid Jovina Bermudez.

“Students ask me all the time about how to fill out the FAFSA, which loans are available, what HESAA does and various financial aid questions, so discussing these topics in a public forum will definitely be beneficial to our community,” Berdugo-Hernandez said.

If you’re even peripherally familiar with the higher education system, you’ve probably encountered the acronym FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). For any college student, completing the FAFSA is the first step in determining eligibility for federal aid. And, in 2021, that’s no different. But the good news is it’s easier. The FAFSA is now shorter and more readily-integrated with the tax system -- which means you can spend less time completing paperwork and more time planning your future!

Additionally, the new coronavirus spending bill provides $22.7 billion to higher education, substantially more than was contained in the CARES Act. So what are you waiting for? File the FAFSA, register for classes at RCBC and take a step in the right direction this year.
