Even in a largely virtual climate, Rowan College at Burlington County has managed to keep students connected and engaged.

Join us this Wednesday, September 23, at 1 pm, for a Facebook Town Hall covering student clubs and resources. We’ll invite RCBC’s Director of Student Life John Costa and student club leaders Kelsey Moss, Kye Binik and Harlowe McCarron.

Kelsey Moss, a member of the National Student Leadership Society (NSLS) and the Human Services Club, will speak to how the club is tempering their desire to complete community service projects during a pandemic. During their virtual meetings, they engage members by playing games and doing icebreaker activities.

“We always welcome new members, regardless of major. We encourage people to bring their ideas because no idea is a bad idea. We still want people to participate, get to know each other and get involved,” Moss said.

Kye Binik, a Criminal Justice major and the Student Government Association’s Vice President of Community Service, is working on creating a Discord server in order to keep students connected and informed.

Film Club President Harlowe McCarron hosts biweekly film nights and discussions about film theory, film characteristics and the importance of politics in film. A paralegal major, she’s also been involved in the Environmental Club, Marketing Club, RCBC Radio and serves as an SGA senator.

In addition to the Facebook Town Hall, RCBC is set to host two Student Club and Resource Fairs via Webex that are free and open to the public. The first will be held on September 23, from 11 am to 1 pm, and the second will take place on September 24, from 3 to 4 pm. During these virtual fairs, student organizations and college departments, including tutoring and financial aid, will answer participant questions and provide relevant information.

“This is the event that kick-starts things. We’re going into it with an open mind, and the ability to adapt to student schedules. Our social media (@rcbcosl) is key in that. We have some great events lined up for fall, and it’s a constantly evolving schedule,” John Costa said.
