Your vote. Your voice. Your right.

When can I vote?

The 2023 General Election will take place on Tuesday, November 7.

How do I register to vote?

To register to vote, please download the Voter Registration Application form for your county.

The deadline to register for the General Election is October 17, 2023.

How can I vote by mail?

All active registered voters in New Jersey will automatically receive their ballots in the mail, at the address where the voter is registered.

A voter may vote by mail by completing the Application for Vote by Mail Ballot and returning the application to their County Clerk. A voter may also apply in person to the County Clerk until 3 p.m., the day before the election.

Then it’s as easy as VOTE, SIGN, SEAL, RETURN. How you return it is up to you.

  1. Mail: It must be postmarked on or before 8 pm Election Day and be received by your county’s Board of Elections on or before 6 days after Election.
  2. Secure Ballot Drop Box: Place your ballot in one of your county’s secure ballot drop boxes by 8 pm on Election Day.
  3. Board of Elections Office: Deliver your ballot in person to your county’s Board of Elections Office by 8 pm on Election Day.
Voting in-person

You may choose to vote in person at your polling place, from 6 am to 8  pm on election day and you will be provided a provisional paper ballot. Accommodations will be made for people with disabilities to use an accessible voting device. Remember, you can return your vote-by-mail ballot at your polling place.

The sample ballot you received in the mail informs you of your polling location and gives you a chance to become familiar with the ballot. Your County Superintendent or Board of Elections can also provide you with information. Polls are busiest between 5 pm and 8 pm so try to vote early.
