The Business Logistics / Supply Chain Management program prepares individuals with the latest skills and certifications required for a career in Supply Chain Management.

The successful completion of all eight modules listed lead to a certification by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). Modules may be taken individually (Note: Comprehensive certification is only earned after all eight modules have been completed). Job placement assistance is available.

Program Eligibility Requirements:

  • High school diploma or HSE (High School Equivalency).
  • Satisfactory background check and drug screening may be required for employment.

Supply Chain Management Principles

Fundamentally, what is supply chain and its different functions? How does supply chain work and what kind of careers are associated with supply chain management? This course defines the concept of supply chain and all of its components from raw materials extracted from the earth to retail products ready for purchase by consumers. Supply Chain Management Principles learned in this course provide the necessary foundation for fully comprehending the remaining certification courses, and is recommended as a prerequisite. Supply Chain Management Principles certification also stands alone as a high-level overview of supply chain management.

Customer Service Operations

This certification course focuses on general knowledge of transportation/logistics and the associated functions necessary for the delivery of goods. In New Jersey, where one in every ten jobs is found in the Transportation, Logistics, and Distribution (TLD) business sector, this course prepares students to pursue the many careers in TLD. Program topics include: Order Process; Returns and Reverse Logistics; Customer Relationship Management; Challenging Customers; Communication in Customer Service; and Legal and Regulatory concerns.

Transportation Operations

This certification course focuses on general knowledge of transportation/logistics and associated functions necessary for the delivery of goods. In New Jersey, where one in every ten jobs is found in the Transportation, Logistics and Distribution (TLD) business sector, this course prepares students to pursue the many careers in TLD. Program topics include: Business and Economy; Transportation Modes; Transportation Economics; Transportation Service Markets; Transportation Technology; Transportation Regulations; Transportation and Global Supply Chains; Risk Management and Security in Transportation; Sustainability Issues in Transportation; Transportation Sourcing and Management; and The Future of Transportation.

Warehousing Operations

This certification course focuses on general knowledge of warehousing, transportation/logistics and associated functions necessary for delivery and receiving of goods. In New Jersey, where one in every ten jobs is found in the Transportation, Logistics and Distribution (TLD) business sector, this course prepares students to pursue many careers in TLD. Course topics will include: Warehousing and its Function; Receiving Goods at the Warehouse; Put-Away and Restocking; Picking and Packing; Shipping of Goods; Safe, Healthy and Secure Working Environments; Inventory Control; and Labor Performance Management.

Manufacturing & Service Operations

Manufacturing and service operations are key components in the supply chain process once the raw materials or semi-finished inputs arrive for production. Many types of manufacturing principles and processes exist, and they play a key role in supporting the overall supply chain strategy.

Demand Planning

This course provides students with an understanding of the process of planning materials from inbound-to-manufacturing, which is critical in today's environment of lean inventory and just-in-time manufacturing. The process starts with general requirements of the sales department for the finished or semi-finished products and translation of those requirements into the just right orders of raw materials. This function also included the processes needed to address corrective actions when demand is out of balance with supplies, and strategies for recovery.

Supply Management & Procurement

This certification course provides students with an understanding of the basics of strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement execution processes so they can quickly familiarize themselves and be effective contributors in specific industry settings. In New Jersey, where one in every ten jobs is found in the Transportation, Logistics and Distribution (TLD) business sector, this course prepares students to pursue the many careers in TLD. Course topics will include: strategic, tactical and operational procurement; procurement organization structures; legal and regulatory considerations; interaction of procurement organizations with the rest of the supply chain; and typical difficulties encountered in procurement processes.

Inventory Management

This certification course will train students in the basics of inventory management and control so that they can become effective contributors in the inventory-related aspects of their roles across the various domains in supply chain management. Key elements of this track include: importance and use of inventory in supply chain; exposure to different types of inventory; techniques for effectively managing and controlling inventory levels; relationship between forecasting and inventory management; and financial impacts of inventory investments.
