The functions of the Department of Economic Development and Regional Planning were assumed by the Burlington County Bridge Commission from the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Merging the economic development and planning role of the department with the Bridge Commission Improvement Authority capitalized on the strengths of the department and the authority thus developing synergies between the two.
