Meet Our Success Coaches

A photo of JoshJosh DiPrima
Josh earned his bachelor's from Rowan University and is currently a graduate student at Rutgers University. While at Rowan, he was a success coach and a TA (teaching assistant). While in undergrad, Josh learned how to manage his newfound independence -- unlike high school, when he only had a few hours of classes, which left the rest of the day open. Creating a schedule between schoolwork, jobs and social life was a learning process, and he is excited to share his experiences and expertise! Non-academic interests include videogames, rock-climbing, hiking and playing the piano.

Josh's quote that he wishes everyone knew comes from Abraham Lincoln: "I am a slow walker, but I never walk back." He defines the role of a coach as someone who helps students create and achieve the goals they want to accomplish. Rather than directly aiding the student on classwork, coaches help students achieve goals outside the classroom. Whether it be studying strategies, motivation or creating habits, coaches help students to succeed in the areas they want to improve.

RCBC Logo - No PhotoAshley Elmes
Ashley is RCBC’s new student experience/welcome center manager and has worked at RCBC for a year and half. Ashley wants students to know that students have the power to be successful in anything that they do and that a coach helps them harness that power. Ashley’s professional background other than RCBC includes multiple years of experience in elementary education as a teacher and coursework in Rowan University’s Higher Education Academic Advising master’s program. While she was in college, Ashley changed her major several times and struggled to find a sense of belonging. Three of her proudest accomplishments are working on ships and getting to travel, graduating undergrad with honors and being asked to co-author a research paper prior to completing her master’s degree. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her pets, studying, completing puzzles and working on home improvement projects. One of Ashley’s favorite quotes is from Dr. Seuss’ Oh the Places You’ll Go: “You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose!”

One of Jalen’s favorite quotes is from Sade Adu: “Move in space with minimum waste and maximum joy.”

Outside of her studies and mentoring, Carolina enjoys reading, playing soccer and football. Some of her proudest achievements include making the Dean’s list during the COVID-19 pandemic and continuing to grow as a student, a person and a professional.
