MARLTON – The Rowan College at Burlington County Board of Trustees welcomed a new trustee who holds a high-ranking position in New Jersey state government.

Justin Braz, who is currently assistant commissioner of the N.J. Department of Transportation, was appointed by Governor Murphy to fill a vacancy on the board.
“I really want to have an opportunity to serve the community,” Braz said.

“Community Colleges serve a critical role in ensuring that everyone has access to the upward mobility available that education affords, whether a degree or workforce certificate. I am eager to learn more about what makes Rowan College at Burlington County so special and help more people access life-changing opportunities through education. “I am very grateful to Governor Murphy and Sen. Troy Singleton for their confidence with supporting me for this position,” Braz added.

Before his appointment to the Department of Transportation, Braz served in the Governor’s Office as deputy chief of staff for Legislative Affairs. He has previously held leadership positions with the state Democratic Committee, N.J. SEIU United Healthcare Workers, and several various individual state legislators including Assemblyman Gary S. Schaer, who was Assembly Budget Chair from 2014 to 2017.

“Trustee Braz brings a wealth of experience and perspective that will benefit the students, faculty, staff of Rowan College at Burlington County,” said RCBC Board Chair Dr. Anthony C. Wright. “On behalf of the board, I welcome Trustee Braz and look forward to working with him as we fulfill the college’s mission of transforming lives through education.”

Braz, Penn State University alumn, lives in Bordentown City with his wife, Stephanie Lagos and their 17-month-old daughter Sofia.
