Shrek: The Musical

The Rowan College at Burlington County student theatrical group, the Lamplight Players, will perform Shrek: The Musical at Burlington County Institute of Technology’s Medford Campus.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek: The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairytale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.

"Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairytale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.

Almost two dozen students will perform in RCBC’s Shrek: The Musical at BCIT’s Medford Campus, located at 10 Hawkin Road. The Lamplight Players take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, April 24 and May 1, and Saturdays, April 25 and May 2. There is a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25. General admission is $15. Tickets for RCBC students with a valid student ID are $10.

Tickets can be purchased online at rcbcshowtix.booktix.com. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
