The WISE program is the Energy Industry Fundamentals program for individuals that are interested in jobs in the energy, utility or construction industries.
The modules for the program include: Basic & Emerging Principles and Concepts, Safety Compliance, Electric Power Generation, Electric Power & Natural Gas Transmission, and Electric & Natural Gas Distribution. The training provides an industry-recognized credential from the Center for Energy Workforce Development.
This program is funded through the Department of Labor's Women and Minorities in Construction grant.
To be eligible you must meet the requirements below:
Meet Dept. of Labor definition of minority groups
Reside in NJ
HS Diploma or GED
Valid driver's license
18 years of age at time of program completion
Complete career interest assessment
Complete employer screening
Complete Reading/Math basic skills test prep and assessment
Pass drug test prior to and after program
Some programs are grant-funded, if you meet the grant eligibility requirements there is no cost to you.
