As a first-gen student, it can be isolating when no one in your immediate circle can relate to what you’re experiencing. Still, through self-motivation, family support and school encouragement, I’ve learned anyone can get through it–and even thrive.
If you are determined to achieve something, you must put in the effort and go for it.
Rowan College at Burlington County alum Chimere Nicole Haskins has won International Mrs. USA 2023-2024, her second nationally recognized title, after winning Mrs. New Jersey America in 2020.
You just have to believe in yourself and work hard. You’re not going to get anywhere without putting in the work to create what you want. In the end, it’s really rewarding to see all you’ve done.

Soon, Boaz was leading several movements located in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and from his activism work, he became a member of the Minority and Equality Rights Task Force and Chairman of Criminal Justice for Southern Burlington County’s NACCP.
